When this album came out I gave it a 6/7 (roughly an 84) because I enjoyed it immensely but I didn't feel like any song really stuck out to me. It's only now, 7ish months later, that I'm realizing it wasn't because there weren't any standout songs, but because to me *every* song on this album is incredible, and the best version of the songs that could exist. I know it's too early to definitively declare My-Lovely-Yellow-Kombi my album of the year, but I do find it difficult to believe that there will be many albums which surpass this for me. There's real magic here that creates a perfectly paced, always interesting and often surprising sound.
This album does so many things identical to their previous efforts, but just like Stumpwork was a refined, stunningly fresh version of New Long Leg, somehow they've found more ways to give us fresh versions of those exact same sounds
As with many of my favorite albums, this isn't actually the best either the artist or the genre has to offer, but damn it tickles me in every way I could ask for
