An improvement from "Your City Gave Me Asthma", both lyrically and quality-wise. I love the noisiness at some parts, especially in Glass Chalet (which is my favorite track from the album). The folk-ish, acoustic songs are great too. My only problem is that some songs sound a bit empty and have no depth to them at times. There's also a lack of consistency, dynamics-wise, of which the best example is the beginning of "Melatonin 130".

A purely instrumental take on post hardcore's softer side with emphasis on repetition. Fantasy is a well thought through yet strange blend of fun and easy to listen to themes and overwhelmingly loud, post-rock like passages. Couch experiments with 5/4 and 7/4 rhythms, taking all of this to the higher level. A seemingly simple, but in fact, really complex album.
I think I prefer this over Stratosphere.
Albertini's influence on the band's sound is really obvious as I think none of the tracks on this album would fit onto Stratoshpere or even 1975, which was already one big experiment.
In my humble opinion, this album is perfect.
One of my favourite albums of all time. It's so theatrical and monumental, at times it's overwhelming but in the best meaning possible. I love crossing boundaries in music, dissonance, messing around with rhythm and so on. Sprain mixes no wave elements with noise, post rock and even slowcore at times (therefore kinda returning to their roots). The band has guitar feedback and noise mastered.
