The Amity Affliction - House of Cards
60

Not a bad song by any means, but it's not exactly exciting either. I respect the message they're going for, and modern metal fans will surely enjoy this track, but it's not really my thing.

VxPxOxAxAxWxAxMxC - Annual Urban Redneck Cremation
100

Even after 7 years since their last release, VxPx still keep the refined sound they built without feeling stale or bland. I'm beyond excited to see what else the kings of goregrind have in store for us this year.

A$AP Rocky - AT.LONG.LAST.A$AP
71

I did not expect to enjoy this as much as I did coming off the back of LONG.LIVE.A$AP. The tracks here have a lot more variety and substance, though there's still plenty of duds (L$D, Jukebox Joints) to be found. Luckily, A$AP makes up for it with the abundance of timeless tracks featured on the record with the likes of Canal St, Pharsyde, M'$, and LPFJ2. With 18 tracks totaling 66 minutes, AT.LONG.LAST.A$AP has something in store for everyone, regardless of taste or preference.

JILUKA - DeViLs
50

As much as I enjoyed tracks like BLVCK and OVERKILL, JILUKA have unfortunately grown more formulatic and prediactble over the past 4 years, a shame considering how talented each member is at their craft.

Mauled - Drop Dead Gorgeous
60

A very by the books revivalcore track that offers nothing new to the genre. Although more varied than their previous work, it's still painfully average.

Monsters - The Righteous Dead
69

Monsters have garnered a cult following over the years amongst deathcore fans, whether it's the Wax Vessel pressing they got in 2022, or the fact that members of Jerome (another deathcore band with a cult following) were also in this band. After a few listens of The Righteous Dead, I can understand why...for the most part.

Monsters take after bands like Emmure and Oceano, giving us their own spin on chug heavy, almost djenty deathcore. The first three songs of this record are pretty ... read more

Until The Bitter End - Yours Truly
92

Yours Truly is one of the best metalcore EPs we've gotten in recent time, thanks in part to their more melodeath inspired sound that's become rather rare in recent years. The only thing stopping this EP from tasting perfection is the glaring limitations of the programmed drums used for this EP. The cymbal rolls are particularly piercing, though they aren't used often enough to dissuade me from enjoying the EP as a whole. This band can only go up from here, and I'm beyond ... read more

As Hope Dies - Birthplace And Burial Site
93

I remember browsing Tarnished Records and seeing handmade copies of this EP for sale, and I figured it'd be worth a listen to see if it was worth buying. One good listen was all it took to convince me to buy it.

The EP starts with A Distant Memory, a masterpiece of an intro, before going into full swing with their title track onward. Birthplace and Burial Site fully embraces the Gothenburg inspired sound metalcore took on during the early 2000s, so expect lots of melodeath and black metal ... read more

Sailing Before The Wind - Sanctuary
84

Sanctuary is an extremely solid melodic metalcore EP featuring some nutty breakdowns and all around great songwriting from Bitoku.

Flesh Prison - Sent Through A Woodchipper
70

Although a standard deathcore track, the mix is pretty good for a so called "revivalcore" band.

(I don't think this band is revivalcore at all, but everyone else seems to think they are lol)

Motionless in White - Afraid Of The Dark
90

Aside from the fairly generic and predictable breakdown, Motionless in White return with a very strong single that further cements them as a metalcore powerhouse.

KnuckleSandwich - TALKING OUR SHIT
81

Compared to BOUND BY HONOR, this is a much more slam inspired record and is sonically more unique. I also prefer the overall mix, which is a lot more bass heavy and rougher all around. However, that same mix results in the outro of WHITE SHIRT being extremely shrill and piercing, making it hard to listen to even at low volumes. The record has about the same variety of BOUND BY HONOR, with NO MAS FRONTERAS! in particular being an out of left field track.

Shoot The Girl First - They Have Clocks, We Have Time
100

They Have Clocks, We Have Time is a truly perfect EP and is the single greatest trancecore and electronicore EP to exist. Not a single track feels out of place or lackluster, and they all contain of some of the best guitar riffs, tapping, and synths to grace the broader metalcore genre. I've been listening to this EP for years, nearly half a decade, and I have yet to get tired of it.

Forget Enter Shikari, forget Attack Attack, forget I See Stars; Shoot The Girl First is the one band ... read more

See You Next Tuesday - Intervals
78

Intervals takes a lot more risks than Parasite, and for the most part, those risks pay off because Intervals is a more interesting and unique record than Parasite, though I still think Parasite is an overall better package.

Intervals, the way I interpret it, is about time. Alpha and Omega, two tracks named after Greek letters, represent the beginning and end of creation, and eternity. Funnily enough, Eternity is also the title of a track, and a few more tracks have time related titled. The ... read more

A$AP Rocky - Don't Be Dumb
70

67->70
This record was a pleasant surprise, to be honest. Although I may not like every track, and the album kinda takes a dip in quality after Punk Rocky, it's still a worthwhile listen.

A$AP really went out of his way to experiment with many different styles of beats, and the record overall is very ambitious, with genres varying from rage (AIR FORCE) and jazz (ROBBERY), and whatever he was thinking with PUNK ROCKY. Don't Be Dumb does a great job with showcasing how versitile ... read more

Lamb of God - Parasocial Christ
70

This is a textbook Lamb of God track through and through, it doesn't reinvent the wheel or do anything too exciting but it is an adequate enough track.

NR

why are they dicks out tho

A$AP Rocky - PUNK ROCKY
0

Skipped this one halfway through, not a pleasant listen at all :/

A$AP Rocky - HELICOPTER
100

A strong single that givees me Catchthirtythree by Freddie Dredd vibes. A much better single than the forced and fake sounding Punk Rocky (seriously that shit is like CS by Uzi bad lol).

See You Next Tuesday - Parasite
95

Parasite is 18 minutes of the most chaotic, mathy, fun grindcore you could possibly imagine. There is not a stale moment in this record, even the slow tracks here are great, though I do prefer Pogonatrophy Pt. 2 over Paraphilia by a solid margin. Each song is short yet they're filled to the brim with blast beats, sweeping guitars, and some of the wildest screeches in the genre. No riff on this record lasts more than 15 seconds either, and time signatures change often. It's almost ... read more
