This album is timeless and always rewarding to go back to. All 78 minutes are chock full of poetry, references, empowerment, heartbreaking stories, funky music, and more. Such high quality music the whole way through, but it can also be put on in the background to enjoy just the sound of it.

This is turning into one of my favorite jazz albums. Hearing the first few notes of Stan Getz’s sax on Litha makes me feel so calm. The rhythm section is tight, willing to go double time and half time at a whim. They provide a net for Stan to weave in and out with precision and thoughtfulness. There’s only 5 tracks, but they make each one count. This album is so easy to listen to, a treat every time.

I recognize that this album is not nearly as well-rounded or focused as oncle jazz, and doesn’t have the same consistent feel-good lull. However, I still like this album a lot for what it is.
