Dave your daughter outdid you, this is so much better than the latest foo fighters record. That aside I’m not comparing them, and I think this stands on its own very well, of course she was gonna be inspired by her father’s music, but I get aspects of other bands too, like garbage for example. A great debut, liked pretty much every song on it.
Now this is fucking awesome in every aspect. My second Neil young album, and Unlike harvest, this one did not disappoint. The folk songs on the first half were better than every single one from harvest, and the more heavier rock sound on the second half, was a unexpected, but loved surprise to someone who went into this album knowing nothing about it, or its history. Knowing that this record came out in 1979, you can tell that the heaviness of the second half must have been a huge inspiration ... read more
Genuinely surprised by how high this is rated. I was going in expecting a very great folk album, instead I got something extremely underwhelming. A man needs a maid is one of the worst folk songs I’ve ever heard. Still though besides that track, the rest of the songs were just okay. Nothing too bad, but not really great either.
Standouts: heart of gold, old man
Get whoever did the mixing for this album out of the studio immediately
Second half takes a pretty big dip in quality, but the first half being as good as it is makes up for it
Starts off extremely well with humans for toys and numb to what is real, but after that just kind of trails the line of Mediocre with the exception of long gone and stare at the void. It’s not a bad album by no means, but it doesn’t hit the highs of jar or ours is chrome. Nevertheless hopefully they continue putting out music, I consider jar to be one of my favorite albums of all time, with ours is chrome close behind, i relate to them in a pretty deep way lyrically. the songs i ... read more
Man i really liked this record, but the length of the tracks pissed me off badly to the point that I really don’t want to rate it any higher. Just when I started to immerse myself into the songs they ended. Willow will benefit ditching the one/two minutes tracks, especially because the production is so nice
I cannot begin to describe my reaction when I realized nice day was a shoegaze track
Listening to a new song by them always feels like it’s my first time ever listening to a piece of music
Judging by how much I loved every single released I had a feeling that this was probably gonna be my favorite wolf Alice record, and I was correct. Beautiful album
I don’t even care that I wasn’t a fan of my mind is a mountain, every other song on this record is fucking amazing. Definitely up there with around the fur, white pony, and koi no yokan for me
I’ve listened to this track multiple times hoping it’ll grow on me since it came out, and it’s just not hitting
Man I love this record. It’s a breath of fresh air In their discography, taking what always works best in their sound and doing some different things in the process to keep it from being repetitive, which was really much needed after coming off the snorefest of gore. I think of it as a darker, more heavy and gloomy version of koi no yokan. Overall I just like how different this sound from the rest of their albums, while at the same time sounding very much like the Deftones i love
