I'm not ashamed to say it this was the first album to win my heart and save my soul with rock 'n' roll.

Permanently altered the pop-punk landscape and marked the arrival of the ambitious and brilliant Hayley Williams.

Contrived as this may sound, her lyrics feel authentic and representative of actual teenage puppy love, where a breakup feels like the end of the world. Filled with crossover potential, the songs are consistant and zippy with catchy hooks in the vein of Boys Like Girls fronted by a young Shirley Manson.

On their second album in less than two years, this melodic Tennessee foursome deliver everything that a group of new-school mall punks angling for the big time should — massive guitar riffs, sweetly infectious choruses, and soaring power ballads that are sure to get some play at this year’s winter formal.

Recording for the first time as a quartet, Paramore-vocalist Hayley Williams, guitarist Josh Farro, bassist Jeremy Davis and drummer Zac Farro-have created 11 more-than-competent pop-rock numbers, each with a heavy, radio-ready crunch courtesy of producer David Bendeth.

Emo’s great hopes attempt to expand their sound. They blow it.

At 38 minutes long, it’s mercifully brief, but still manages to feel like a double album for those who endure it. That’s those who don’t manage to forget that it’s on the stereo at all.

Paramore return delivering catchy hooks, unique melodies and a high energy throughout with Sophomore album, Riot!

A solid sounding record, this project really showcases the "poppier" side of pop punk. A huge step up from their previous work, Riot really showcases the bands growth instrumentally. Lyrically the record can sound rather immature and mundane at times, however Williams vocal performance completely makes up for this and once again steals the show on this project.

It only took 11 tracks to get to a great song that isn’t Misery Business, but the ride along the way was pretty fun! You can definitely tell it’s early Paramore because of the outdated sound and basic punk writing but Hayley is definitely a brilliant vocalist and there were some strong instrumentals in there.

EDIT (74---->83)

Riding the wave of success from their debut album *All We Know is Falling*, Paramore builds on their momentum with *Riot!*, showcasing a newfound confidence and maturity, resulting in a slightly more aggressive sound. Punk influences increasingly blend with the band’s pop-rock style.

From the opening seconds of the album, it’s clear that the name *Riot!* is fitting. *For a Pessimist, I’m Pretty Optimistic* kicks off the second opus with energy, followed ... read more

Overall a really, good, album, I enjoyed a lot of the songs, but if you asked me to pick out a specific song from this album after listening to if from the name alone, or die... I would ask for the gun to shoot myself.

A lot of these songs are very same-same.
