The effects of loss don't quite permeate Requiem. Romantic heartache with mixed emotions, Keshi's bread and butter, is more common.

the structure of these songs is reminiscent of some of my favourite 90s r&b jams, and they feature gorgeous instrumental breakdowns that sent me into headphone bliss multiple times. keshi's voice is really pretty and this is some of the catchiest music i've heard this year.

Requiem progresses keshi's sound with a diverse and bolder set of tracks while maintaining his signature moody and dreamy aesthetic. I got free tickets to see keshi in Toronto last week so obviously, I had to listen to the album to see what I was in for. The concert had fantastic energy but Requiem gets a bit boring especially in its second half.

Honestly, used to be a big Bay Area Asian and was obsessed with this album when it came out, but coming back to it I find it… alright. I’m just not intrigued or interested in it anymore, and well that’s fine.
