I discovered this band after watching an episode of the UK show The Young Ones, which is one of the greatest comedies of all time. I was not expecting this to be as experimental and complex but it was a very welcome surprise, as it's an amazing musical ride and has none of that '80s cheesy production.
(Plus Neneh Cherry is a part of the band and she is an amazing musical talent.)
Before Neneh Cherry became a star she was part of the whirlpool of London´s post punk madness and this band.
RR+P were a musical project that combined the free funk excursions of PopGroup with Afrobeat and Free Jazz with Dub. This music never gets academical - instead it is serious fun in with the emphasis on rhythmic beauty. A successful attempt of proving Zappa wrong: this Jazz smells fresh. This record shines in so much different colours and musical sketches it´s still amazing.
