John was the season's Clay Aiken in some ways, and also the show's resident punching bag...just meaning he attracted all the old ladies and got a tonnnn of criticism from the judges and viewers. Unlike Clay, he just didn't have the range to go the distance, but John's smooth jazzy old school voice fits well with this album of standards.
