There are ... a few weak tracks. But if Nivea's debut is slightly uneven, it still has more ups than downs and is -- thanks to the more on-the-ball producers and writers -- worth the price of admission.
Nivea gives us several things not to mess with, but I do mess with this project.
I love many of the ideas behind this project. I think the execution felt a little disjointed. The mixes are a little all over the place. I don't know, for instance, why the bass was so much louder than the vocals on several tracks? But the songwriting is pretty solid. Surprisingly decent but far from memorable or anything. The lead single is solid and there other good songs on here. 25 Reasons is one of her more underrated cuts. The production is serviceable (as is her own performance). Still a bit too long but far from a 112 or Jagged Edge album.
