After hearing Yonaka's first 3 singles for the first time, this EP is (and must've been) pretty disappointing coming off the strength of those. This EP lacks the energy the band brought to Ignorance and especially Drongo... and instead shows the first flaws in the band's sound and style.
Bubblegum and Run are a pretty lackluster and often annoying back to back to kick the EP off, with Bubblegum weighed down by those awful "I,I,I,I"s as well as Theresa's vocals just... not working. ... read more
This was actually a pretty nifty indie release, the vocals on here in particular are thoroughly enjoyable. And there's some pretty great guitar work on here that while aren't the most technically innovative, are forceful enough to leave an impact.
The opening song "Bubblegum" is a pretty self explanatory tune. It's a very sugary and poppy tune, with some pretty nice vocal effects that made a decent impression. Although the real highlight for me was "Gods and Lovers". Dear ... read more
