This song is overwhelmingly simple, and undeniably weak. 'SOLO' encompasses nearly everything musically distasteful- ranging from poor vocal execution, to cringe-worthy over-repetitive lines, to the horrible bollywood/moombahton chorus. I knew this was going to be disappointing, but I didn't know it would fall so flat in the hands of Teddy Park, who is, or at least was one of K-pop's greatest producers.

I'm not an avid fan of BLACKPINK, where you can see it based on my ratings through their discography, but I do enjoy some music from them. simple, not great, but super catchy and very fun. also the empty chorus works well imo due to the fact that the instrumental/synth actually has an extended melody to follow. carried the mantle of being the best bp solo work for many years, up until her recent album. it's still probably in the groups top 5 (though they also have like, what 30 group songs and maybe 60 if u include solos?)
great first single from jennie, listen to it since 2019 and still good to the ears till now.
