As it is usually with the discography of this band, new Hell album turned out to be absolutely stunning. The heavily distorted, dissonant production eoevetes the incredibly doomy riffs to another level, and on top of that it's one of their best written records. It's not overly repetitive and has incredible pacing for a doom/sludge album, especially this slow and heavy, which usually can be a little boring and awkward but not here. I've been meaning to get more into doom, and this was quite a nice, horizon expanding experience. The album is divided in two by the interlude 'Factum' and although I liked the first half more, the atmosphere was consistently intimidating, as were the riffs. My issue is mostly that there were some meandering sections, but nothing that really made me lose engagement. Overall, a nice release that made me want to check out more.
Some great doom metal but honestly some of the songs do drag a bit and as much as I do love long songs I have to admit at points the length becomes a little unnecessary but that overall is weighed out by the better moments on this album.
I love Death Doom, and they’re probably the best to do it. Maybe a bit more diversity through the album could have been great but overall, solid record
