Drowned in Sound
Their music is a statement, as foreboding as any ever made, and whether you nod in approval or sneer in derision is irrelevant. Which is lucky, as statements from the heart and the head are almost always superior to those from the wallet to the masses.

PopMatters
Whether it's through clear, concise rapping, or haunting arrangements, Dälek's message is always expressed with eloquence and originality, and four albums in, they remain one of the most engaging, original acts in contemporary music.

AllMusic
The album does what all great art does: guides its audience without giving them concrete answers (or even directions), forcing them to think for themselves instead of blindly following others, and eventually leading them, hopefully, to some kind of greater, albeit more complex, understanding of things.

Under the Radar
A hip-hop masterpiece.

Alternative Press
Dalek have harnessed their noise fetish into a sound that's more sedate, but just as unnerving.

Pitchfork
The consistently excellent and consistently underrated experimental hip-hop duo's dense compositions layer scores of tiny components into woozy, disorienting symphonies of noise.

Dälek’s music may have slightly simmered, but its quality remains as staggeringly high as ever-its sting is just more subliminal now.

Q Magazine
Bizarre and not a little perverse.

Ultimately Dalek's fragmented drone makes dalek's tired wordplay obsolete, thereby redeeming Abandoned Language.

dälek’s most accessible record to date. It might not be as ear-challenging as their most famous and well received releases, but it still remains a solid boom bap experience. Throughout the tracklist, the beats are heavy and consistent, being this platform for what I consider to be some of Will Brooks’ best rhymes and flows. However, its long winded tracklist does it little to no favours to bring it high up the dälek catalog. As much as I like the instrumentals on this ... read more

SERIES 3: HALLOWEEN REVIEWS - DAY 20 - ABANDONED LANGUAGE

Discography Deep Dive: dälek #5

Another pretty good album from dälek, i mean it´s another really atmospheric listen that sets the focus on the atmosphere but honestly i like that, i mean it´s just a chill listen in the that plays in the background and it´s pretty much like on every album by them, the atmosphere on here is great and there isn´t anything that kills it or even interupts it, but that dosen´t means that this album has no lowlights, i mean i ... read more

Another win for this underrated underground group. Definitely their most underrated album to date. Really enjoyable and they’re still going strong today with their new album that just came out.
