Perhaps one of the greatest records this year, Thereupon stands as a technical marvel and maybe wins the award for most engaging, impressive album this year. Steve Lehman and Vijay Iyer together are absolute monsters, dominating this release and turning every song but the closer into something for the history books. The synergy between these musicians and the soundscapes they manage to produce is just extraordinary. Give this a listen if you enjoy a group of people doing a lot with relatively little.
