When all is said and done, no one will debate the fact that Breeding the Spawn failed to pick up the gauntlet thrown down by Suffocation's preceding '90s metal boilerplate, but it hardly stinks up their legacy either, and is therefore still recommended to die-hard fans of the group.
A good follow-up from their debut, but not nearly as strong as it - nor Pierced from Within.
The mix is also annoyingly quiet, which sucks a lot of the fun out of the whole album
This record is definitely decent and well written but there's a lot holding it down. The production is genuinely so bad, everything's so flat and just unpleasant sounding. The vocals leave a lot to be desired too and at times the music is kinda boring itself. I'm kinda conflicted on it so it probably needs a relisten
The production really does have something to be desired, it's a shame because the atmosphere is still there it's just the tone and heaviness is not. The drums aren't great either. Beginning of Sorrow is structured really well and is really good and has a nice little chunky section towards the end. The title track is also really good and has great riffs. enjoyable, but the choice by roadrunner to not have scott burns as the producer for this album was a costly one in terms of quality
It hurts cuz the songwriting is crazy but the mix feels stretched out and thin, and WAY too quiet
