Given Jesse Kanda's past efforts as visual producer for Arca, FKA twigs and Björk, it's easy to see their influence spill over into his solo capacities too. Labyrinth is the most Arca sounding album that Arca has never made. And while it's all too easy to make that comparison, if someone changed the artist name and told me it was a pre-S/T Arca release I would be none the wiser. Labyrinth is the only Jesse Kanda's release I understand. Maybe it's his most accessible work too. It's so obviously similar to Arca's Xen, but way more elegant. That being said, second half of this album is completely forgettable. Everything after Nastasya blends together.
