Given Jesse Kanda's past efforts as visual producer for Arca, FKA twigs and Björk, it's easy to see their influence spill over into his solo capacities too. Labyrinth is the most Arca sounding album that Arca has never made. And while it's all too easy to make that comparison, if someone changed the artist name and told me it was a pre-S/T Arca release I would be none the wiser. While Labyrinth encasuplates a notable and distinctive production among other records relesead on its genre across the year, it just did not click with its wholesome and ends up being a mixed bag compilation of background noise.
