Let's start saying the following. Even when there is an undeniable link to Fugazi (in obvious historical and musical terms), this album is also totally amazing by its own merits, you do not need to be a Fugazi follower to loved this record, you just need to be able to love any good record.

For those itching for a Fugazi reunion two decades since their last release, Coriky is the closest you may ever get to that reunion. Ian MacKay and Joe Lally of that famed post-hardcore act team up with drummer and wife of MacKay Amy Farina of the Evens, composing this line up of Coriky. Does everything Ian McKaye touches just turn to gold? Seriously, this is such a tight listen, I can't believe he still has it in him 40 years into his career.

I do have to give credit to the other band members though. Joe Lally's bass lines are a big driving factor of this album's appeal, and Amy Farina fucking kills it on the drums. The drums and base on the album are stellar! The female vocals are great and the male vocals are serviceable. However, the album gets a little sleepy near the end and the guitar work could of been better. Still a good listen though.
i wasn't expecting anything of this at all, didn't even have any hopes to get up, but it might very well be my AOTY.
