It's as dark, oppressive, and unsettling as it's cover.

Never explored Darkstep before but the concept of it is pretty intriguing. Dreadful and hostile backdrops riddled with eerie synth drums, antagonizing basslines, and uh harsh noises.. a lot of em. There is no comfort to be found here. It is unapologetic, brutal, and pretty jam packed with creativity and craftsmanship. I love an LP that wastes absolutely no time sending you to the shredder. When it comes to ferocity, Exit The Void is definitely the crowning achievement of 2019. This is a very angry and mean dark eletronica record. So busy with noise and bass washes, the entire mix almost seems to crackle in a few points. Outer Edges filtered through the lens of Methlab, and darkstep more generally. Exit the Void is an unapologetic listen from start to finish, constantly in your face and pummeling you into submission with massive basslines and haunting synths and risers, leading to an experience which reflects much of the cover: an industrial landscape being violently fractured by something too big to comprehend, the violent liminal space where the light and the darkness intersect.
