Gen X dads are gonna LOVE this one!
It's not a bad album, but I didn't care for it. It's somehow pompous and bland. The instrumentals are fine, I don't particularly have a problem with them, but they just sound like they're from a fading era. Sharp for the time, I'm sure, but doesn't maintain that into the modern day. It was not ahead of it's time but exactly within it's time, and I don't think it's aged gracefully.

having practically zero knowledge on TOTO apart from that overplayed one about a continent, this is a well appreciated subversion of any idea i had of the group. channeling the ghosts of pink floyd past (though thankfully not ummagumma era past) and a shit ton of blues rock, Mindfields is an incredibly solid record that deserves nowhere near the mediocrity its remembered for.

Unlike another album Ill talk about later, this album feels bloated as shit. It signified Kimballs grand return so logically this should be a decent album. Well no, because these songs are bloated. Theres 3 songs I like on here, 3 I hate, and the rest are mid.
