Although the messages in Alpha are comparable in theme to CL’s previous releases, sonically, these tracks show a new side to her range, with a bigger focus on vocals, storytelling, and lyricism, adding to the rap capabilities she’s shown over the years.

The moment I've waited almost a decade finally came, the debut album by legendary korean superstar CL, former 2NE1 member has arrived to the motherf*cking world. CL's always had the charisma to be a solo artist, no doubt about it. As for the music itself? It's fine. I appreciate the fact that ALPHA consists of many different soundscapes while still making sense with one another, making for a sonically cohesive album, but the individual tracks themselves are a bit forgettable at best and pretty bad at worst.
