Wanted so much more from this project than what I got. There are some amazing highlights here for sure, I can tell that Frums is a very capable producer from those tracks. The problem with this album is that when it isn't delivering half-baked ideas, the mix is completely ruining any atmosphere it tries to set up, frequently becoming headache-inducing towards the end. I really just wish that the record was better mixed because so many of these songs would be AMAZING if that was fixed.
"Vignette" undergoes so many stylistic ideas and changes, which guarantees a unique experience, but also increases the chances for inconsistencies. It is a very, very sharp double-edged blade. It's amazing how Frums' music still sounds fresh and uniquely hers despite the many imitators out there. While the sound design feels heavily influenced by maybe Juke/Footwork and 90s or 00s Video Game Music, it's still hard to fully categorize. time to get this one over with and out of the way before the allegations get any worse! frums has such a unique and sporadic approach to edm. chaos always seems to converge into a rapid-fire burst of energy on every single one of these twenty tracks, unlike anything else i've heard in the genre
