If you know me, you'd know my heart's discontent with Conan Gray's previous work. Out of the blue, out of seemingly nowhere, I found the urge to put out an appreciative review of this. Just a random thought that pricked up my brain and onto the keyboard. Why, you may ask?

Never been a huge fan of Conan Grey but I do not understand how the rating of this song is so low as 'Overdrive' is outstanding in all aspects, with the track being a tremendous refresh. Conan Grey sounds great, putting a perfect amount of effort into his vocals, coming out with some excellent melodies in the process. I haven't been a big fan of Conan's music up until now, but this song clicked with me in a different way.
Yeah, it's generic af and nothing special or original, but it's a pretty good tune that's executed well. The production isn't crazy but it's solid and the hook is really catchy.

It’s good for what it’s trying to achieve. Overdrive is a feel good & care free synthpop tune that feels like a song that has potential to blow up closer to summer. i’m looking forward to a new conan grey LP whenever that may come; especially if he’s going for a brighter & sweeter pop sound.
