While not on the level of his next record the long and short of it, this is a great start for quickly, quickly! I always loved “love echoes” and “survey” when I was younger, but coming back to this album after such a long time and hearing “trilogy”, “all I wanna do” and “getsomerest/sleepwell”, it’s a good example of where his lofi jazz started and how it got to more expressive stuff later on. Having listened to "Getsomerest/Sleepwell" before listening to this album, I kinda expected this album to be pretty chill and sweet
and I was right
...for only half of this album. This album is very bouncy in terms of the vibes it wants to achieve to the point that each track gave me immense tonal whiplash.
I did enjoy it overall, but I'd be lying if I said that the album is anything more than just being pr good
