Though it might be a touch too polished for those looking for something exclusively grubby and grisly, Aborted’s approach of taking the sweetest meats from death metal’s gruesome platter ensures Maniacult has something for everyone to sink their teeth into.
For the time being, ManiaCult is certainly a most worthy addition to 2021's already impressive extreme metal playlist, if only for the classy, and rather elitist, name of its central character.
Too much of ManiaCult seems satisfied adhering to Aborted’s own firm establishment and not actively trying to raise the bar, let alone expand upon their wealth of experience to do much noticeably different.

We all know Aborted for providing some of the fastest music in history. We like our songs like a jackhammer construction zone. Maniacult seems to be divided in two with the first half showing us that extreme brutality can live in a space where the band is not going pedal to the metal the whole time.
