Seether's original debut record, no more original than any other Seether record but this feels the most authentic. In a good way and a bad way. As bad as their lyrics typically are, there are songs on this album with downright atrocious lyrics on top of generic post-grunge. It can go pretty hard sometimes into straight up Helmet territory but Nirvana is still a primary influence. It's interesting to hear songs that'd end up on Disclaimer I and II. Crazy how this is way better than the debut in most ways especially since it feels so raw and Shaun Morgan doesn't sound bored out of his mind here - there even are some straight up downtempo songs on here that aren't half bad and Tied My Hands might be the best song this band ever released.
A much rougher version of Disclaimer, and there's somethings I prefer here, and somethings I don't. On the positive, the rough sound here gives it a much heavier sound than Disclaimer, which is already heavy for it's genre. On the negative, some of the tracks here that didn't make it to Disclaimer are pretty poor. Beer is very out there lyrically and Stay and Play is just bad.
