‘graves’ may not be a huge musical departure, but it’s a sign Purity Ring still have ideas left in them yet.

On the follow-up to 2020’s WOMB, the duo is torn between looking back and moving forward. Mostly, they add layers of polish to their familiar electro-pop sound.

I think one of the biggest complaints people have is Megan hardly sings at all in most of their music. Graves I think is a great step up from what she's capable of. Although this project doesn't feel complete, I feel like it's the right direction for the duo.

This failed to make an impression other than an emptiness of ambition or connectivity that I haven't felt from their other projects.
