Make no mistake, Personal Computer is an instrumental metal album full of growling depths, rich ballads with Norse imagery and magic, and stunning guitar solos. It’s just that it’s an album that only someone who fully appreciates the potential of technology can create.
Master Boot Record has long-since transcended gimmick trappings. Love has no need to go the way of pirate metal or kawaii metal, because his musical chops speak for themselves. Sure, maybe finding a way to incorporate his voice into the proceedings would benefit the longevity of Personal Computer, but this particular niche of metal may never have a champion of this caliber in this lifetime.
Personal Computer brings enough bangers to heartily recommend to long-term MBR fans. And if you’re not a long-term fan, Personal Computer is a great place to become one.

On Personal Computer we are more aware of the band's presence. The instrumentation is a bit more tied to the human. Synths feel like they are played on keytar like Dragon Force style from some 80's action movie. Drums are naturalistic and guitar playing is crafty, but still has moments of humanity. track times seem to run a bit long, but the whole album feels like one vibe anyway so what does it matter?

Chiptune and Metal, interesting combo indeed. Really close to Nintendocore, another interesting genre that I had positive and negative feelings about stuff I've heard in it, due to it being chaotic, but not always working well.
This Cyber Metal combo we see on this album is far less chaotic (at least in a negative way), and more well produced to the point that the blend is so good to the ears.
Track 1 was already good, but quickly got me questioning, ... read more
