AllMusic

Midnight is an impressive debut, one that's good enough to kind of make one a little angry that Lissvik didn't get around to it sooner. Even though he was very busy, and his influence can be widely felt, it's to the benefit of fans of warm, fuzzy electronic music that he finally made it happen.

The Guardian
Lissvik’s solo album conjures Balearica’s original eclecticism – from soft rock and funk to dub and krautrock, and even ambient.

The 405
There's a balmy late-night feel to the music, but the songs never feel fatigued or sluggish. The production is classy and the arrangements are meticulous, polished and reliable, but that reliability in a way turns out to be one of the biggest drawbacks for Lissvik.

Pitchfork
At times, Lissvik’s old band seems like that old relationship that haunts him still, replaying those old fights in his head and reminiscing even as he moves on with his life.

Exclaim!
Though he does a great job of keeping the album instrumentally diverse, he falls into the same textural and spatial avenues throughout much of the album.
