This Ohio-based noise-rock trio crafts out some really interesting, subverted rock songs that do bring out to mind great names of the genre such as Sonic Youth (mostly on their first few records), but rather than follow an old tradition, Drose offers a distinct, bone-clinching approach to the genre. By stripping down to the barest of bare essentials in the genres of noise rock and no wave, Drose's debut record, Boy Man Machine, has ensured itself as a major highlight in rock music this year. As fantastic as the style is, the recording is something that deserves just as much praise.
