I may have picked up Solace a bit late in the game, and delivered this review equally so, but I’m glad I stuck with it—this sound has promise.
Does this album have the biggest crescendos? The most complex drumming or guitar work? Does it have the most emotional lyrics of the year? Nope.
So how is this my current 2023 AOTY above albums like Let’s Start Here, UGLY or even Fauna?

Finally, a new record in this style that doesn't rely on obnoxious Sabbath worship cliches.
Have you ever heard of psychedelic post doom metal? Me either. But, somehow REZN magnificently joins the forces of all 3 genres for an amazing experience on Solace. Man, does this thing slap. The only problem is that there seems to lack a little consistency with the different sounds across the album. If REZN is able to summon the heaviness of the swans-esque intro along with the end of the second track, I could see them releasing album of the year on their next record.
