Jumping/Dancing/Fighting, the debut EP from Norwegian noise-rock band Hammok is one hell of a way to get break out into the scene. The songs are short, but loud and thundering. The lyrics are bleak with an attempt to cope. There are occasional atmospheric detours and it all takes place in less than 18 minutes. What’s not to like? Hammok delivery on a promising debut that is right up the alley for folks that like things sad with a ton of fury.

i never realized it until i read the pitchfork review (sorry!!!) but this really is just a modern take on some Fall of Troy. all the heavy yelling, all the heaviness, all that’s missing is the mathy progressiveness. very good EP, shows grand potential
