The debut 'Rainmaker' finds Chapman at his most traditional and folk, though already it's more 'folk rock' than just 'man and a guitar' a lot of the time. 'It Didn't Work Out' is an effective opening gambit, introducing the listener to Chapman's strange gnarled vocals, a solid rhythmic backdrop and some electric guitar embellishment.
