Warlocks Grim may not be quite as effortlessly raucous and energetic as prior releases, even if it demonstrates more varied songwriting. But there’s a lot to admire, and I will always credit writers leveling up their skillset.

Hellripper is a part to the ongoing speed metal revival movement. Warlocks Grim & Withered Hags has distinguishable elements of thrash, early and more modern black metal sounds. It is fast, intense and satanic but delivers some melodic solos that are definitely a highlight of the album.
The problem is that the sound of the band is rather one-dimensional and after a couple of songs the material turns less entertaining.
