this album starts so incredibly well and really does not stick the landing. Some of my favorite Jonathan Coulton songs are here, but after Sunshine the songs kind of just stop, even though there's five more of them (pulled down the stars is nice I guess). It feels like a deluxe edition of itself. But god, the first 5 songs.

Solid State was an album I saw a year after it's released, never listened to, and then finally listened to in late 2020.
Wow, do I wish I listened to this sooner.

Solid State is filled to the brim with electronic, rock and pop songs that I adore with all my heart. The opener "Wake Up" eases you into the album and it's themes incredibly well, while being a joy to listen to. I think the concept makes all the songs a bit too cohesive for my liking, enjoyed more of the free flowing collection of songs in artificial heart. The production is very lush and inventive at times, and the songs that stand out on first listen really shine.
