L'Ecstasy sounds like the work of two friends bonding over everything that made them fall in love with club culture in the first place, and making music that celebrates dancing, nightlife, and all of the associated feelings.
This 16-track collaboration, pointedly called L’Ecstasy, functions a bit like a less in-your-face version of the Skrillex/Fred Again/Four Tet juggernaut sweeping clubland. Here, bleary, ecstatic passages break up the squelchier, ravier and occasionally more punishing highs.
L’ecstasy is a worthy, scattered advertisement for a dance destination made by and for Tiga and HudMo’s tastes, with an open invitation to join in however you see fit.
Less like an album and more of a compilation of songs Tiga and Hudson Mohawke produced together. It’s not very cohesive and some of these singles came out over 3 years before this was released.
Even though the album has an epic runtime of over 1 hour teach chunk of songs explores completely new ideas. The unifying factor always being the tight and synthesized approach to song craft that each artist brings to the table. The stiff samples and mechanical nature of the compositions make for undeniable groove in unorthodox ways.
