Another album of solid material by Fates Warning. It definetly stands in the shadow of their previous two masterworks and the rest of what was to come, as it's neither as heavy nor as proggy. It also pales in comparison to what the other two prog metal giants, DT and Queensryche, put out in 1994 and it turns out to be a Parallels lite. This is another strong album from Fates Warning, showing how well they refined their progressive hard rock and metal sound. It’s consistent with the albums surrounding it, cohesive, and solid from start to finish. While they were transitioning toward a more streamlined and accessible progressive metal style, they stayed true to their roots and didn’t alienate their fan base like Queensrÿche did around the same time.
