The Stygian Rose is not only this band's strongest work, it's one of the top records of 2024 so far. This is a no-brainer first day buy if you still happen to be on the fence.

Distorted Sound

For those craving a hit of classic doom-inspired metal, The Stygian Rose is an irresistible listen. While its influences are clear, the exceptional songwriting ensures it feels fresh and original, making this Crypt Sermon’s finest work to date.

The Stygian Rose builds on the prior releases to create a towering doom edifice with an unshakeable foundation. If this isn’t the doom album of 2024, someone made a merger deal with the Devil.

The album finds CRYPT SERMON willing to stick its neck out. Awkward stumbles would have been forgiven, but there aren't any lackluster points. While every nook and cranny of "The Stygian Rose" isn’t flawless, it is beautiful because it's genuine and free flowing.

Sounds like a good vocalist who is pushing to get a raspy metal growl and it works! The drums are fun, the atmosphere is fun. The ... read more
