As with Emergency on Planet Earth, Jason Kay's dead-on impression of Stevie Wonder and Sly Stone drives the group's blend of acid jazz and funky R&B.

Jamiroquai is a funk-making machine with a bright future in the past.

Rolling Stone
Nowadays, when most funk comes out of cans, Jamiroquai's live spark glows.

Most of this second album still sounds like vintage Stevie Wonder and Johnny 'Guitar' Watson, but Kay's vocals are as snappy and engaging as his extrovert persona

Kay's alright really. He's a jazzer, he's a toker, he's an erudite warbler. He doesn't want to hurt no-one. But the blithe and polished grooves of '...Cowboy' leave the worrying impression that, mostly, he's an accomplished stylist and that's where it stops.

An ebullient follow-up to his storming debut.

A-Genre April Day 8/30: Acid Jazz
YESSSSS! I've been waiting for this day ever since I assembled the list. I've always wanted to get into Jamiroquai cuz they always seemed like they had this cool, fun, and funky vibe to them and I was right! This album also strikes me as an alternate universe version of Stevie Wonder (seriously Jason Kay sounds a lot like him). There were very few times I was bored throughout this hour and 6 minute runtime. GREAT ALBUM!

Recommendation from @JoeyDubs!

This album started off a lot less exciting than their other projects I've heard. I still do like the sound but wasn't a fan of the fact this started with an almost 9 minute song. I find albums that are long like this to be a bit hard to get into and I found myself less interested in this album as a whole compared to their others.

I think this album sounds really similar to their other works which doesn't make it stand out as much as the others since it's a style ... read more

Nowhere as good as their first album, but it was still good. I just think the songs are way less memorable, and they just drag on without staying interesting. I also feel like the production quality somehow got worse since their first, but it’s still pretty high. Their vocals are still pretty good, and overall it still is an enjoyable listen.

Favorites: Just Another Story, Space Cowboy, Mr Moon
Least favorites: light years, half the man

Honestly this is the album that got me to listen to Jamiroquai and man this is amazing. Of course this is a huge improvement from their debut album and it shows. The acid jazz, jazz fusion, and funky disco elements are what's important on this, mixed with amazing vocals of course. In my opinion this is when Jamiroquai's jazzy sound is at its peak. Also sometimes it feels like you're high but in a good way.
