At the core of complexity is always simplicity. That becomes most obvious when listening to albums like this. Nobody would argue that emotion cannot exist in complex music if they heard Cryogenic, or other tracks like it off this record. It's hard to ignore the importance of mixing as an artform when listening. And that post-recording editing is as important as the recording itself (The mechanic age?). Feels more conceptual than the first release. Ideas & execution more hard hitting. Every song feels like it has something to say.
The storms more raging and the atmospheres and imagery are more pronounced, the music does a good job at putting you into an uneasy and lost state.
The guitar playing is more atmospheric, melodic and varied, I connected with the drumming a bit more as well.
