20 in 2024: Probot

Dave Grohl, man who needs no introduction if you've paid attention to alternative rock since the 90's, here in 2004 he put together a batch of tracks inspired by metal music he grew up with, intended as throwaways that were never gonna be used in Foo Fighters, him and his producer had the idea to turn the demos into songs catered to specific metal-frontmen. The biggest success of this album is that it sounds like it was written with every single one of the singers in mind. Every song sounds like a love letter to the work of the singer that sings on said song, and it really does show how versatile and much of a die hard fan of metal Dave Grohl is. The only main issue is that due to the way the album is set up, it does mean that personally some songs do less for me than others due to me not being as big of a fan of those bands than the ones I like, ... read more
