Sweet's last album with the original lineup proved to be the best one so far. Just one year before Brian Connolly would leave the band, Sweet released Level Headed, which didn't feature obvious band ripoffs or genre oversaturations. No, this is quite an enjoyable classic rock album with plenty of diverse and memorable tracks. Sweet touched the sky with Love Is Like Oxygen — that track feels expensive, legendary, built for immortality. Everything after that sounds like they kept chasing the high and never quite caught it.

If you've been listening to Sweet or The Sweet since the late 60s you wouldn't be surprised by the California Rock by way of Zeppelin opening of this record.
If, instead, you came to them from the Glam of Ballroom Blitz you would think...what in the fresh hell is this soft rock MOR sound?
You are right on both counts. This is Sweet sounding like the real Sweet they always wanted to be. Not the vessel for bubbleglam they would cut their teeth on.
