Call The Devil reflects the tense times we live in, made by people who were there when this kind of music was popular the first time round. Sometimes there really is no replacement for the OGs.

"Call The Devil" is a little too long and could have done with some more ruthless pruning, but when it hits the mark, it does so with a uniquely ghoulish vigor and lots of imagination.

Itโs self-indulgent, painfully pretentious, and its hour length feels like being dragged through broken glass at a carnival devoted to masculinity.

Mushroomhead has had a bit of an identity crisis since original vocalist J Mann initially left in 2004. The group has had a revolving door of members since basically their inception, which further muddies how they should be perceived and want they want to sound like. MH started as an industrial, nu metal sounding band, and have evolved into a slightly less industrial… alt metal band, I guess?
