Newfound Interest in Connecticut - Tell Me About the Long Dark Path Home

Immaculate perfection of its genre, and a beautiful creation, one to be remembered for all time.

Until tonight, I have never heard of Newfound Interest. I found this album through my friend, Travis who has recommended this project. There appears to be a recurring pattern among the post-punk revival rap scene where these artists divert a majority of their focus into sick ass baselines and really relevant lyricism. And I quite frankly, I couldn't have it any other way. Vince Staples and Genesis Owusu have dropped two great albums this year! This one specifically, I already feel growing on me a shit ton.

Forgot to write a review for this when I first reviewed this on March 17th but this is truly a beautiful project. That first song is what I can only describe as one of the most human, nostalgic baiting, truly magnificent songs of all time. And the whole rest of the project is fantastic too and so so consistent across it. I find myself loving it more and more as I come back to it.

I'm gonna feel like an asshole for this but it does not bump in the whip. these long 20 minute compositions are just free jazz and it reminds me too much of King Crimson's Moonchild.

It's absolutely incredible and for sure their most accessible album, packed full of energy, joy and glee.

Absolutely wonderful, cheerful, and at times beautiful. The key features of Wilco and as I continue to dive further and further into their discography, my love for the band and the city of Chicago (once again, never been there) only grows stronger.
