Norman Westberg's guitar work has a definite power to it, and occasional studio manipulations like the chopped-up/sped-up "Freak" keep things interesting, but by the end it all gets a bit much. In small doses, though, it's great, and early Swans really is like little else on the planet before or since.

Filth is loud and bottom heavy, but not quite as lugubrious as Greed or Holy Money.

This is it folks. I had to stop it multiple times because I was about to break down in tears. This might be the new 'heaviest' album to beat. And I do mean beat.
I feel like listening to this album is the equivalent of Michael Gira coming to my house with a baseball bat, smacking me over 50 times, stomping on my face, pulling out my teeth, breaking my legs, killing my pets, pissing on my furniture, cutting my shoe lasses, burning my house down and fucking my mother all at the same time. This was a great record but i think the swans got a lot more to offer.
Telling me to flex my muscles damn well knowing i’m built like tung tung tung sahurโ๏ธ
it was alright but it was very incoherent at times, both musically and lyrically. didn't really like it
