I remember last year when I was looking at the home page of AOTY and I saw an album by none other than Black Country, New Road. I saw the album art and literally thought nothing of it because it's an Unsplash stock photo, it was the first really good reviewed album of that year though. I had little to no idea what was going to come of this band.
Now, go back to the middle of 2021. My friends and I all do playlists swaps, a good friend of mine throws 'Sunglasses' into one of his playlists and ... read more
cameron comes up with so many different analogies for everyday life that it makes me want to crawl into his brain for a day just to see how he views the world.
this may be a hot take, but i consider cameron's solo venture to be better than any Geese effort released at the point of this review. there is an incredible amount of personality put on display here, and cameron has a real knack for creating an environment with every little sound that plays (which there are many flowing from ear ... read more
'bully' houses some of ye's best work in the last 5 years, but there's too many lackluster songs on here for it to be a fulfilling experience start to finish. hopefully a tlop situation arises and the songs are updated and built upon. a good foundation exists, but it remains just a foundation for most of it's runtime.
sydney runner has a way of creating an environment with her sound that i have never heard another artist accomplish. this hypertrap(?)/digicore maximalist approach is just an explosion of energy while simultaneously envoking such a strong emotional response, at least for me. there is a lot of passion here, and it shows beyond belief.
HYKEEZY HD returns sounding like a brand new man, both lyrically and vocally. i really don't know how a rapper i thought was A1 in terms of flows managed to upgrade, but he pulled it off. keem whips out so many different vocal inflections, you could consider him an instrument all on his own. the voice cracks on the title track 'Ca$ino' almost sounds like keem is afraid of the damn beat.
5 years of life gives you a lot to talk about, and keem has stepped up to the mic to spread ... read more
hey i made this!
i feel as if i don't really give much insight into my music. it's more of a here i did this thing, lmk if you like it. however, this release is a bit more important to me. most of my releases last year fell into a more hype and upbeat category (excluding 'picnic' and 'twenty4hours') but i have always had a love for creating more emotional and sentimental like music. when first getting into making music, i didnt really know how to make drums so i ... read more
