It's brat summer guys. I am not called 365partygirll for no reason. This album is brilliant and is a great introduction for me into Charli's other work, which I cannot wait to get into. Every single song is strong, not a skip in sight, and GOD they are such earworms.
First, the album cover and marketing are genius. I cannot think of an album cover more fitting to the campness of this record, I admit I've already painted it on a tank top and worn it in public. It's ... read more
I am a folkwhore. No matter how much of a Taylor Swift hater you are, you must admit folklore is a work of art. The production is subtle and takes a few listens to fully appreciate, but every detail works. This album is incredibly mature and a retrospective of Taylor's songwriting career.
Folklore opens with "the 1", a reflection on her shift of genre with "I'm doing good I'm on some new shit", which may seem like a poor lyric on first glance, but somehow it ... read more
The Idler Wheel is a beautifully raw album, and you can really see how Fetch The Bolt Cutters developed from it. The potential some of these songs had, only to be held back by the production, makes for an incredibly frustrating listen at times. That said, there are some clear album highlights when Taylor's charm comes through. TTPD is a fun listen, I find myself going back to it a lot, whether that's because of recency bias or just simply good replay ... read more
I could talk about this album for literally ages (of adz). Age of Adz frequently gets overshadowed by its more popular counterparts, Carrie and Lowell and Illinois, but it is just as strong if not stronger than both. My first listening experience was something! But it works????? It genuinely takes such a ear to put the most random sounds and noises together and somehow create a grandiose and experimental masterpiece, and Sufjan has that.
The beginning of the album begins with a fan favourite, ... read more
