one of my favorite folk albums ever!! i completely lose myself in this lp. though the instrumentation is on the mellower side, none of the tracks here are boring. linda's beautiful voice and the airy production totally pull me in; the sound is so sweet and soulful. wonderful lyrics as well, hey who really cares in particular really resonates with me. i feel like i need to listen to this in a meadow full of flowers at mount ranier..beautiful scenery to match a beautiful album!
i have too many thoughts on homogenic for one short snappy review...but i'll try and sum them up anyway! this album seriously blows me away every time i listen to it. bjork is truly one of the most innovative artists of our time. homogenic reinvented electronic music - this is so insanely produced and crafted. bjork's vocals are beautiful. some of my favorite lyrics of all time are on here ("i thought i could organize freedom/how scandinavian of me", "im a fountain of ... read more

whimsical, quirky, and unlike the album name, very unearthly! i felt like i was in a spaceship listening to this. some of the tracks didn't quite work for me but there were some really strong points where the production totally drew me in (plantasia, swingin spathiphyllums, music to soothe the savage snake plant). this was a really fun listen and the old school-y sound almost reminds me of the soviet music i'd hear in old eastern european cartoons i watched growing up. a very ear ... read more
album of the year. brat is brash, confrontational; charli sings vulnerably and honestly over the upbeat, unconventional yet alluring production (fantastically done by ag cook and others), making for charli's most personal, and probably best, work yet. truly an album full of introspective bangers - sonically, the majority of brat is clubby and dancey, a key element to charli's persona, while the lyrics reveal the struggles she goes through as this seemingly unbridled party girl. while ... read more
