Sad Clown is a masterful song because when the listener reaches it, they can really understand the lyrics "I'm crying, sick and tired of trying" in a way they could not before. Bravo, Brendon.

The singles get worse in the greater context of the album and even though it's only 43 minutes the entire thing feels like such a slog. Apart from the lyrics this isn't even bad in a funny way it's just bad. Star Spangled Banner is the worst song I have heard in some time

I didn't mind the first single, and I saw the score for this one and figured that the average user score would be a little harsher on this song than I probably would be because I have a higher tolerance for this type of music than most people on this site do. And while I don't love the melody or production on this song, I definitely don't hate it, either. It's the type of thing I would generally give a neutral score to. I went through a pretty major twenty one pilots phase (like many) in the years following Blurryface. I have relistened to and ranked all of their stuff recently at the time of writing this except SAI which will likely take a while to get around to. Before listening I remembered liking this one the best a few years ago but upon revisiting their discography, nothing else stuck with me, and I was expecting this one to be the same.
