Mr Morale is a look into the eyes of Kendrick Lamar. Much like Denzel’s MMESYF, MMATBS reads like a therapy session. You get more insight into his past, present and future than ever before. Songs like Mother I Sobee, Father Time, and Auntie Diaries are all deep and introspective, where as songs like Count Me Out and N95 are more fun. Overall, his third best
Watch The Throne fails at being Ye and Jay’s “victory lap,” but that does not mean it is a bad album. The production is smooth, and it has some good highs, such as the 3rd song and Otis. The problem for me is the lyrics. They can be a bit corny and almost rushed? The flow is okay, nothing to write home about, and I personally would’ve changed how the tracklist was arranged. 7/10
Holy shit this album is perfect. I can’t find a single flaw in the entire thing. Parker’s production perfectly encapsulates grief, Ritchie vocalizes like his life depends on it, and Grogg’s few lines make everything come together beautifully. There’s not much more I can say really
GKMC is almost perfection. The experience is, like the cover says, a short film. We see a younger, harsher kendrick out around town with his friends, sleeping with rich girls and rapping in cars, but suddenly tragedy strikes. Kenny and crew get into a cop chase that leads into a shootout and one of his friends gets shot. This leads to, in my opinion, the greatest song of all time in SAMIDOT.
